Star Wars Action Figures
In 1977 Kenner released their first bundle of Star Wars
action figures, which grew to 96 characters by 1985
(following Return of the Jedi). More than 300 million
were sold by the mid-80s, and were subjected to various
methods of childhood destruction. Many children eventually
destroyed most of their Star Wars toys, because they
lacked the Kung Foo grip of the 80s GI Joe action figures.
But they made great Christmas gifts even though half of
those now-vintage toys became firecracker fodder.
