Captain Action
Hasbro had G.I. Joe, and Ideal Toys had toy envy. To
compete with Hasbro, Ideal Toys purchased the rights to
Captain Action from Stan Weston (who also sold the G.I.
Joe concept to Hasbro). The Caption Action figure was
sold with his own black and blue uniform, a ray gun and
a lighting sword. Additional costumes that transformed
Action Man into characters like Spiderman, Batman, Green
Lantern and Tonto were sold separately. Caption Action
was almost like Barbie, but for boys.
