Matchbox Cars
Originally produced in 1953 by Lesney Products, the popular
toy cars were sold in tiny boxes resembling those that held matches.
Because all children are drawn in by the lure of playing with fire,
this packaging lasted until the 1970s when they got rid of
the box completely in favor of the "blister pack" still in
use today. Matchbox was purchased in 1997 by Mattel, or the
same brand that produced the rival Hot Wheels cars…but
ironically, not the game Monopoly.
