FrisbeeWalter Morrison originally thought up the concept when he and his girlfriend (later, his wife) were offered 25 cents for the 5-cent pie pan they were throwing to each other at the beach. Morrison eventually redesigned the flying disk and eventually sold his "Pluto Platter" to Wham-O in 1957. They re-named it after realizing kids in New England had nicknamed Morrison’s invention "Frisbee" after the resemblance of Frisbie Pie Company pie pans.
